Two Burglaries Strike North Side Before Dawn on Friday
The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service received reports of two break-ins in North Side during the early hours of Friday, 12 June. In the first case, a pair of masked intruders wearing dark clothes forced their way into a house on North Side Road at approximately 4:00 a.m. A resident who woke up during the invasion yelled at the perpetrators, who then ran off with some money and a cellphone.
While police were attending to that scene, they were notified of another burglary at a home in the vicinity. A masked person clad in dark clothing reportedly entered the dwelling, took a sum of cash, and escaped.
Nobody was hurt in either incident, and both cases are still being investigated. Authorities noted that in both situations the homes appeared to have been left unsecured, with doors unlocked. The RCIPS is asking the public to make sure all entry points are locked before sleeping or leaving home.
Anyone with CCTV footage or information about these crimes is asked to call Bodden Town Police Station at 947-2220. Tips can also be given anonymously through the RCIPS Confidential Tip Line at 949-7777, the RCIPS website, the Cayman Crime Stoppers website, or the Cayman Crime Stoppers app.
