A midday raid on a grocery store in La Clery left a security officer injured after gunfire erupted during the confrontation.

The episode unfolded shortly after 1 p.m. on January 19 at Falcon Mart Supermarket, previously known as Wintrades Supermarket. According to early reports gathered by law enforcement, a group of four armed men tried to carry out a heist at the establishment.

During the clash, the establishment's security officer, 27-year-old Ceazar Bascombe, was struck by a bullet. He was quickly taken to a medical facility for emergency care. At the time of reporting, police had not provided an update on his medical status.

Officials arrived at the scene shortly after the alarm was raised and launched a probe into the circumstances surrounding the incident. No suspects had been apprehended by the time of publication, and authorities indicated that more information would be shared as the inquiry progressed.
