Senior Citizen Discovered Lifeless in Marchand Waterway
A pensioner from the Bishop's Gap area was pulled from a river in Marchand on Friday evening, and law-enforcement personnel are now piecing together the events that preceded the tragedy.
At roughly twenty minutes past five on June 5, 2026, a call reached the Marchand Police Station alerting them that a body had been sighted in the river. Officers who hurried to the spot found a senior male submerged face-down and entirely unresponsive. A medical professional present at the location confirmed the fatality.
The victim was identified as 67-year-old Andrew Yarde, who had resided in Bishop's Gap within the Marchand district. A preliminary look at the body did not turn up clear evidence of violence or attack.
The exact chain of events that placed Yarde in the water remains unclear. Detectives are continuing to look into the case and have not ruled out any possibilities at this stage.
