A 29-year-old man lost his life after being shot multiple times in Conway, Castries, on Wednesday evening, prompting a homicide investigation by local authorities.

The deceased has been identified as Michael Zacchaeus Charlery. According to The Voice St. Lucia News, officers from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) were dispatched to the scene at approximately 6:55 p.m. following reports of gunfire.

When law enforcement arrived, they found Charlery suffering from several gunshot wounds. Personnel from the Saint Lucia Fire Service provided emergency assistance and transported him to the Owen King European Hospital (OKEU). However, medical staff pronounced him dead shortly after his arrival.

A post-mortem examination is expected to be carried out at a later stage as detectives continue their inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the killing.
