Detectives in Saint Lucia are probing two unrelated fatalities that occurred in the island's southern region, according to The Voice St. Lucia News.

In the first case, emergency responders were dispatched to Pierrot, Vieux Fort, shortly after 6 a.m. on Monday. There they discovered Jason Francis, aged 31 and from Vigier, suffering from a knife wound inflicted during an altercation. Fire Service crew members conveyed him to St. Jude Hospital, where clinicians later certified his death.

A person of interest has been apprehended and is providing statements to investigators. An autopsy is expected to be carried out subsequently.

The second inquiry concerns a male cadaver spotted at Canelles Beach in Micoud. On the morning of March 16, roughly at 9:30 a.m., Micoud Police Station personnel arrived at the seaside following a tip-off. The decedent was badly decomposed and bore several cuts. A physician on site confirmed the fatality. So far, officials have not established who the individual was.

Members of the public who possess relevant details about either matter are encouraged to assist the authorities. For the Pierrot killing, the Vieux Fort CID can be reached by telephone at 456-3926.
