A man known by the alias 'Brother Bear' was shot and killed on Sunday near the Black Mallet Gap area, opposite an automotive sales business in Marchand, Saint Lucia. The killing occurred less than 24 hours after a deadly double homicide on Marchand Boulevard, wicnews.com reports.

The victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the upper torso. Residents noted that the attack bore strong similarities to the two killings reported the previous night along the same stretch of the community.

The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force confirmed that the fatal shooting pushed Saint Lucia's homicide count to 32 for 2026.

Double homicide on Marchand Boulevard

The sequence of violence began late Saturday evening with a double homicide on Marchand Boulevard. The victims were identified as 64-year-old Pearly Ramsay of Marchand and 34-year-old Sheston Duncan, also known as "Bolom," of Black Mallet.

Both victims sustained gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead by medical personnel in the early hours of Sunday. Duncan was declared dead at approximately 12:01 a.m.; Ramsay was pronounced dead at around 12:46 a.m.

The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear. Police have not confirmed whether the double homicide and Sunday's shooting are connected, and investigations into all three deaths are ongoing.

Ramsay, a mother of seven, had previously lost one of her children to gun violence, according to news sources.

Prime Minister responds

Prime Minister Philip J Pierre issued a statement via Facebook addressing the weekend's killings. "As Parliamentary Representative, I am deeply saddened by the homicides that occurred over the weekend. I extend sincere condolences to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives," Pierre wrote.

He described the acts of violence as a matter of grave concern and stated he had been in discussions with the leadership of the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force, receiving assurances that officers would use every lawful means available to apprehend those responsible and restore order.

Pierre added that he had convened a meeting with the Police High Command to receive further updates and determine a path forward on addressing crime and violence in the country, reaffirming that the safety and security of citizens remains a top priority of his government.
