BermudAir launches nonstop flights to Turks and Caicos from seven US and Canadian cities

BermudAir adds seven new gateways to Turks and Caicos this winter

BermudAir is launching one of the largest expansions in its history, adding nonstop and direct service to Turks and Caicos, Anguilla, Belize and Guatemala City beginning this December, caribjournal.com reports. Tickets go on sale Friday.

The carrier, which originally built its network around connecting travelers with Bermuda through a premium leisure model, is now extending its reach across the wider Caribbean basin and Central America. New routes originate from cities across the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, Florida and Canada.

Turks and Caicos at the centre of the expansion

Turks and Caicos receives the most significant share of the new schedule. BermudAir will launch service from Newark, Boston, Baltimore-Washington, Raleigh-Durham, Fort Lauderdale, St. Petersburg-Clearwater/Tampa Bay and Toronto — seven gateways in total.

Three of those routes carry particular weight. The airline says it will operate the only nonstop service to Turks and Caicos from Raleigh-Durham, Fort Lauderdale and St. Petersburg/Tampa, markets where travelers have historically been forced to connect through larger hubs.

Flights from Raleigh-Durham begin December 20 and operate twice weekly. Boston launches weekly service on December 19, Baltimore-Washington follows on December 24 with weekly departures, and St. Petersburg-Clearwater/Tampa Bay starts twice-weekly flights on December 21. Newark receives weekly nonstop and direct service from December 19, as does Toronto.

The destination has become one of the region's leading luxury markets, driven by demand for resorts along Grace Bay Beach, villa rentals, boating and high-end residential communities. Properties including The Ritz-Carlton Turks & Caicos, The Shore Club, The Palms, The Sands at Grace Bay and Wymara Resort + Villas draw visitors from across North America throughout the winter season.

New nonstop access to Belize

BermudAir is also entering Belize with routes from Boston, Raleigh-Durham, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando Sanford and St. Petersburg-Clearwater/Tampa Bay. The airline says it will be the only carrier offering nonstop flights from each of those cities to Belize.

The routes give travelers direct access to jump-off points for Ambergris Caye, Caye Caulker, Placencia and Hopkins, without the layovers that have long characterised travel to the destination. Belize has developed a following among divers, anglers and adventure travelers, with the Belize Barrier Reef — the second-largest barrier reef system in the world — remaining its most prominent draw. Many visitors also combine beach stays with trips to rainforest lodges, wildlife reserves and Maya archaeological sites.

Boston flights begin December 19 and run twice weekly. Raleigh-Durham gains twice-weekly service from December 20. Orlando Sanford launches service on December 21, with Fort Lauderdale and St. Petersburg/Tampa also receiving new flights during the winter season.

Anguilla routes returning and expanding

Anguilla, known for its white-sand beaches and high-end resort offering, is also part of the expansion. BermudAir is reinstating seasonal service from Newark, Boston and Baltimore-Washington, and adding connectivity through Toronto and the St. Petersburg-Clearwater/Tampa Bay area.

The island has built one of the strongest tourism brands in the region, anchored by beachfront dining, boutique properties and limited mass-market development — factors that continue to attract luxury travelers.

Broader context

The expansion comes as demand for Caribbean travel remains strong. Travelers are increasingly choosing destinations associated with beaches, diving, boutique resorts and smaller-scale island experiences rather than traditional large-scale resort hubs. Several destinations in BermudAir's new network have recorded some of the fastest tourism growth rates in the wider Caribbean region in recent years.

The addition of nonstop routes is widely regarded as one of the most effective drivers of tourism growth, reducing travel time and cost for passengers and increasing the overall accessibility of a destination.
