The Court of Appeal has directed the immediate release of Dominic and Genevieve Hadeed, who have spent 22 days in custody following their June 24 arrest.

In a virtual ruling handed down by Justices Peter Rajkumar, Mira Dean-Armorer and Joan Charles, the pair were ordered to remain under house arrest at their Pine Avenue, Bayshore, Westmoorings residence, the Trinidad Guardian reported (source).

Among the terms imposed, the siblings must hand over all passports, travel documentation, firearms, and phones or other communication devices. They may not speak with anyone outside the property—directly or indirectly—unless the Commissioner of Police gives advance consent, and they cannot depart the address without similar authorization.

Guests are forbidden unless previously cleared by the police commissioner. Only vetted medical staff, attorneys, or caregivers may step onto the premises. Officers from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service may also enter at reasonable hours to check compliance.

If either sibling violates these terms, they risk being taken back into detention under their individual Preventive Detention Orders.

The respondents in the matter—Commissioner of Police Alister Guevarro, Homeland Security Minister Roger Alexander, Attorney General John Jeremie and PC Eldon Calliste—may propose any additional restrictions once the formal judgment is delivered.

The Hadeeds further signalled their willingness to wear electronic ankle monitors to track their movements.
