Officers from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) detained eight people and recovered stolen property and firearms during coordinated operations in Chaguanas, Port-of-Spain and Tobago.
On Monday afternoon, Criminal Investigations Department personnel in Chaguanas conducted an intelligence-driven exercise from 12:00 pm to 4:30 pm. They visited a commercial establishment on Main Road and took a 31-year-old male into custody in relation to active inquiries. Later, at Soogrim Trace in Orange Valley, they apprehended a 25-year-old male after a complaint about a stolen handset. Two mobile devices previously reported missing were also retrieved.
In another exercise on Sunday morning, Port-of-Spain CID Area West officers focused on individuals thought to be behind multiple thefts, including stolen air-conditioning equipment and vehicle break-ins. The action stemmed from several complaints, among them an incident involving an automobile in St Clair. Two suspects were taken into custody for theft-related violations.
Early yesterday, around 12:35 am, Tobago Division officers received information about armed men in Signal Hill. Working alongside Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force members, they stopped a car carrying four males allegedly armed. Military personnel secured the occupants before police reached the location. Investigators from the crime scene unit examined the area and CID staff supported the follow-up. Authorities discovered two high-powered rifles inside the automobile. The four men were held for questioning and the firearms case remains under active investigation.
