TTPS Operation RESOLUTE Shield Nets Eight Arrests and Firearms
Law enforcement officers rounded up eight suspects and recovered stolen goods and illegal weapons during coordinated raids across Trinidad and Tobago.
The Trinidad Guardian reported that the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service carried out the intelligence-driven exercises as part of Operation RESOLUTE Shield.
In Chaguanas, detectives from the Criminal Investigations Department launched an operation between noon and 4:30 pm on Monday after receiving multiple robbery complaints. They visited a commercial property on Main Road and took a 31-year-old male into custody in connection with open cases. Investigators then moved to Soogrim Trace in Orange Valley following a theft report involving a mobile device, apprehending a 25-year-old man there. Officers also retrieved two handsets that had been reported missing.
On Sunday morning, between 5 am and 11 am, West Port-of-Spain CID personnel focused on individuals thought to be behind a string of thefts, including stolen vehicle air-conditioners and car break-ins. The crackdown followed several filed reports, among them an incident with a vehicle in St Clair. Two suspects were arrested for theft-related violations.
Separately, in the early hours of yesterday, Tobago Division officers joined forces with the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force after receiving information about armed men in Signal Hill. Around 12:35 am, military personnel stopped a car carrying four males suspected of carrying weapons. When police reached the location, the men had already been restrained by the soldiers. Forensic teams examined the site and detectives aided the inquiry. Authorities found two high-powered rifles inside the automobile. All four men were placed in detention, and the probe into the weapons is continuing.
