Multiple law enforcement sweeps conducted under the banner of Operation RESOLUTE Shield led to the apprehension of eight individuals and the seizure of contraband across Trinidad and Tobago, according to an official statement cited by the Trinidad Guardian.

On Monday afternoon, detectives from the Criminal Investigations Department launched a targeted sweep in Chaguanas in response to a spate of hold-ups. At a commercial premises situated on Main Road, they took a 31-year-old male into custody as part of active enquiries. Shortly afterwards, the team moved to Soogrim Trace in Orange Valley following a complaint about a missing handset. There, a man aged 25 was also placed under arrest. During the same sweep, investigators reclaimed two mobile devices that had previously been reported missing.

Earlier, on Sunday morning, West Area CID personnel in Port-of-Spain focused on suspects believed responsible for a string of thefts, among them the pilfering of cooling equipment from properties and unlawful entry into parked cars. The crackdown was prompted by numerous complaints, one of which concerned an automobile in St Clair. This phase yielded two further arrests for theft-related misconduct.

In a concurrent action, Tobago Division officers received information shortly after midnight about armed men in the Signal Hill area. They joined forces with the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force to intercept the group. Military members stopped a car carrying four males allegedly armed with guns. By the time police reached the location, the servicemen had already restrained the suspects. Forensic specialists examined the site, while detectives aided the probe. A search of the automobile uncovered two high-powered rifles. The quartet remains in detention as the weapons inquiry proceeds.
