Law enforcement operations across Central and Southern Trinidad over the weekend led to multiple arrests and the recovery of bullets, a firearm magazine, and marijuana.

Officers detained four people and confiscated bullets, a loaded pistol magazine, and cannabis during weekend anti-crime sweeps in Central and Southern Trinidad, the Trinidad Guardian reports.

Members of the Central Division Task Force ran an operation from 4:30 pm to 9:30 pm on Saturday in Couva. While searching near a mango tree off Greig Street, they came across a black plastic bag holding a pistol magazine containing four live rounds.

In another Central Division effort, personnel from the Longdenville Police Post—backed by the Gang Unit—worked from 4 pm to 7 pm on Friday. That sweep turned up fifty 7.62 calibre rounds and forty-three 9mm rounds.

Senior officers ACP Remy, Senior Superintendent Bhagwandeen, Superintendent Frank, and Inspector Rampersad oversaw these Central Division activities.

On the same Saturday, the Southern Division Task Force—joined by the Canine Branch—carried out an exercise from 1:30 pm to 8 pm. Four people were apprehended on allegations of having cannabis, related equipment, and camouflage gear in their possession.

Senior Superintendent Simon, Superintendent Bertie, W/Superintendent Bridglal, and ASPs Pacheco, Ramsaran, Chulhan, and Ragbir directed the Southern Division operation.

Authorities confirmed that inquiries remain active.
