Law enforcement officers confiscated illegal drugs and items believed to be pistol magazines during coordinated anti-crime operations in Port of Spain and the Western Division on Sunday.

Between 9 am and 2 pm, personnel from the Port of Spain Division conducted a visible hybrid operation targeting several high-risk neighbourhoods, including Beetham Gardens, Sea Lots, and sections of east Port of Spain along Duncan, George, Nelson, and Duke Streets. The exercise was overseen by Senior Superintendent Ramnarine, Superintendent Ramsook, and ASP Singh.

During a search conducted behind the Basilon Street Community Centre, officers located a black plastic bag. Inside were five clear packets containing plant material suspected to be cannabis, weighing approximately 120 grammes, along with three rectangular objects that appeared to be magazines for pistols. All items were taken into police custody.

In a parallel effort, the Western Division Task Force carried out Operation Steadfast under the direction of Senior Superintendent Williams, Superintendent Gyan, and ASP Aguillera, with coordination by Inspector Grant. At approximately 2 pm, acting on intelligence, officers searched an unsecured lot on Vanderpool Lane in Diego Martin and discovered fourteen cannabis plants growing there. The plants were seized and transported to the St James Police Station for destruction.

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service stated that investigations remain active and reiterated its commitment to maintaining a visible presence across all divisions, dismantling criminal networks, and protecting public safety.
