A 27-year-old man from East Port-of-Spain was shot dead while on the road with friends, just metres from the Besson Street Police Station and Riverside Plaza.

A 27-year-old man from East Port-of-Spain was killed by gunfire yesterday while he was on the road with friends, only metres away from the Riverside Plaza and the Besson Street Police Station.

The deceased was identified as Elijah "Dapper Sixx" Riley, of Clifton Hill Towers, St Paul Street, Port-of-Spain.

The sound of the shooting caused residents in the area, including children, to run for safety.

Riley sustained several gunshot wounds and died at the location.
