A female sustained stab wounds and a passerby was physically assaulted during an evening incident in East Port of Spain on Sunday, law enforcement officials reported.

The injured party was socialising with a companion inside a business establishment on Nelson Street at approximately 8 pm when an individual familiar to her approached and launched a knife attack.

A witness who stepped in to assist was also struck during the altercation.

The alleged offender ran from the location but was apprehended by officers a brief period later. He was transported to the Woodbrook Police Station, where authorities anticipate questioning him and laying charges.
