Nine arrested for DUI on Park Street, including police and fire officers

Nine people, including a police officer and a fire officer, were arrested for drink-driving during an early Saturday operation on Park Street, Port of Spain.

Nine people were arrested for driving under the influence during a police operation on Park Street, Port of Spain, in the early hours of Saturday morning, guardian.co.tt reports.

The exercise ran from midnight to 4 a.m. and targeted impaired driving in the Port of Spain Division. All nine individuals were found to have breath alcohol levels exceeding the prescribed legal limit.

Those detained range in age from 19 to 69. Their occupations span a wide cross-section: a police officer, a fire officer, a WASA technical officer, an engineer, a bank employee, a vendor, a sales agent, a custodial worker and a pensioner.

Police described the operation as part of ongoing efforts to crack down on impaired driving across the division.
