Armed police attended Parham Road in Canterbury shortly after 15:00 BST on Wednesday, bbc.co.uk reports, following calls about a man carrying a weapon.
Officers searched an address on the street before locating the suspect elsewhere in the city. A 36-year-old man from Maidstone was found in Station Road West and arrested in connection with the incident, Kent Police said.
The man remains in custody while an investigation into the circumstances is ongoing, according to a police spokesperson.
