Redditch man receives 27-year sentence for child sexual abuse

Luke Simon, 42, from Redditch has been sentenced to 27 years in prison after being convicted of raping and sexually abusing multiple children, bbc.co.uk reports.

Simon was found guilty of two counts of rape of a child under 12 and 20 counts of sexual assault on children under the age of 13, committed over the course of a decade. West Mercia Police said his offences came to light in 2023 and involved more than one child.

At Worcester Crown Court on Thursday, the judge also imposed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and a restraining order against Simon.

Detective Sergeant Izabela Majchrzyk paid tribute to the survivors of Simon's "predatory actions", commending their courage in coming forward and providing evidence.

"We hope the sentence will help them to move on with their lives and that it encourages other survivors of sexual abuse to come forward," Majchrzyk said.

She added that the force's message to anyone who has experienced similar abuse is clear: "We will always listen to you and act where appropriate no matter how long ago the offences took place."
