Former Met constable to appear in court on ten charges after IOPC-directed probe
A former Metropolitan Police officer is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Tuesday 5 May charged with ten fraud and corruption-related offences, wired-gov.net reports.
Sunna Harrison-Aziz, a former police constable, was charged following an investigation carried out by the Met Police's Anti-Corruption and Abuse Command, conducted under the direction and control of the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
The charges relate to two categories of alleged misconduct: carrying out checks on police computer systems on behalf of third parties, and fraudulently claiming reimbursement for expensive items purchased online.
The IOPC opened its directed investigation in October 2022. After the inquiry concluded in November 2024, a file of evidence was referred to the Crown Prosecution Service, which authorised the charges.
Other IOPC cases
In a separate matter, a Norfolk Constabulary officer has received a final written warning for conduct that included excessive use of force during the arrest of an 18-year-old man in Kings Lynn.
The IOPC has also launched an investigation into a Greater Manchester Police firearms operation in which a man was shot.
A separate IOPC investigation has concluded that the use of lethal force by a Thames Valley Police firearms officer was necessary, proportionate and reasonable during an incident in Milton Keynes in which a man died after being shot.
The watchdog is additionally reviewing a significant body of evidence relating to a fatal police shooting in Bedford this month, dated 12 May.
