Former Calderdale constable faces multiple charges after IOPC investigation

A former West Yorkshire police officer has been charged with perverting the course of justice, bbc.co.uk reports, after allegedly failing to investigate a road traffic incident.

Michael Meade, 41, served as a police constable based in Calderdale before resigning. The alleged offences are said to have taken place between January 2022 and May 2023.

The charges followed an investigation by the West Yorkshire Police Counter Corruption Unit, conducted under the direction of the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).

Meade faces additional charges of theft and two counts of accessing policing systems in breach of the Computer Misuse Act 1990.

He is due to appear at Bradford Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.
