North Yorkshire Police said it received a report on the afternoon of Sunday, 31 May that a suspect had entered the home of a woman in her 70s in Harrogate and taken her purse.
The victim's debit card was subsequently used to make purchases at several shops in Harrogate.
Officers attended a location a short distance from the victim's address and arrested the suspect. She has since been formally charged with burglary and fraud.
