A 24-year-old man from Walton has been arrested over the murder of Ellis Cox, shot dead on a Liverpool industrial estate in June 2024.

Ca.news.yahoo.com reports that a 24-year-old man from Walton has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder in connection with the killing of Ellis Cox, a 19-year-old shot dead on the Liver Industrial Estate in Aintree, Liverpool, in June 2024.

The arrest brings the total number of people detained in the investigation to eight. All previously arrested suspects have since been released on conditional bail, Merseyside Police confirmed.

Cox was shot in the back with a self-loading pistol while walking through the industrial estate after visiting Southport with friends, according to police.

Detective Inspector Steve Wilkinson said the inquiry continues to advance. "This man will be questioned about Ellis' murder," Wilkinson said. "We are determined to get justice for Ellis' family." He also thanked the community for information already provided and renewed the appeal for anyone with further details to come forward.

A £20,000 Crimestoppers reward for information leading to a conviction was doubled earlier this year.
