A 36-year-old man has appeared before a judge at Truro Crown Court charged with the rape and murder of a woman in her 80s, bbc.co.uk reports.

Edward Holden, of Alexandra Place, Penzance, is accused of killing the woman at a bungalow in the village of Ashton, near Helston, Cornwall, on Friday.

Holden entered no pleas during Tuesday's hearing and was remanded in custody. A trial date has been set for 23 November.
