A teenage boy has died after being stabbed at a property on Adnitt Road in Northampton's Abington area. Police have cordoned off multiple scenes as a murder investigation gets under way.

A teenage boy has been killed in a stabbing at a residential address in Northampton, The Independent reports, with Northamptonshire Police now pursuing a murder investigation.

The boy died on Tuesday evening at a property on Adnitt Road in the Abington area of the town, despite attempts by officers, members of the public and paramedics to save him.

A police cordon remains in place on Adnitt Road and at Dallington Park. Residents have been asked to avoid both locations while the investigation continues.

Detective Chief Inspector Ryan Catling, of the East Midlands Special Operations Unit Major Crime Team, is leading the inquiry. "This is a fast-moving investigation with several scenes in place as we work to establish what has happened," he said.

Catling appealed for anyone who was in Adnitt Road and the surrounding area from 6pm on Tuesday evening to come forward if they witnessed any suspicious behaviour. He also called for witnesses who may have seen two people acting suspiciously in Dallington Park from 7pm onwards.

"We know this incident will cause a lot of concern for the local community," Catling added, "and I want to offer reassurance that we are doing all we can to establish what has happened and identify those responsible."

Neighbourhood policing officers will be carrying out patrols throughout the day and are available to speak with members of the public who have concerns.

Investigators are particularly keen to obtain CCTV, doorbell camera or dashcam footage captured in and around Adnitt Road. "Any small piece of information or footage is useful and could be the vital detail we need as part of our inquiry," Catling said.
