A West Mercia Police officer has been arrested on suspicion of outraging public decency after CCTV footage allegedly showing him engaged in a sex act in a pub car park circulated on social media, bbc.com reports.

The incident is said to have taken place in north Shropshire in April. The footage allegedly shows the officer — who was off-duty at the time — receiving oral sex from an unidentified woman in the car park.

Two members of the public who viewed the footage spoke to the BBC. One of them filed a formal complaint with West Mercia Police.

"I am horrified that this man is in the police," the person who made the report said. "It's shocking and sickening that this involves somebody in a position of authority."

A second witness said they were angered by the alleged incident. "It's disgusting, does he think he's above the law?" they said.

A spokeswoman for West Mercia Police confirmed the arrest and said an investigation was under way.

"A man has been arrested on suspicion of outraging public decency and is currently in police custody," she said. "The arrest relates to an incident in north Shropshire in April this year."
