Father named as suspect in triple murder in Great Denham, Bedfordshire
Bedfordshire Police have launched a manhunt for a father suspected of murdering his wife and two young daughters, The Independent reports. Nothabo Zandile Tshuma, 42, known as Zandile, along with daughters Natalie, 15, and Nala, five, were found dead at a large detached house on Carnoustie Drive, Great Denham, near Bedford, on Monday.
The suspect has been named as Ndodana Mkhanyisi Tshuma, 45, who goes by the name Mark — a British citizen of Zimbabwean heritage. Police believe he left the UK from Heathrow Airport on Saturday, travelling to Zimbabwe on a British passport. Bedfordshire Police have released a CCTV image of Tshuma in connection with the investigation.
Zimbabwe does not appear on the list of the UK's extradition treaty partners.
Detective Inspector Lee Martin issued a direct appeal to the suspect: "We know that Mark Tshuma left the country on Saturday and is now believed to be in Zimbabwe. We are urgently working to find and apprehend him, and would appeal to him directly to hand himself in."
Martin added: "Mark, unthinkable harm has been caused to those around you, and this has left your relatives and friends utterly devastated. Criminal investigation knows no borders. We are actively working with national and international agencies to pursue every available line of inquiry to track you down. Please do the right thing, come forward and hand yourself in to local authorities."
According to Companies House records, Tshuma owns and runs a property business, Nexus Trove Holdings, registered to his address in Great Denham. The company, of which he is the sole director, held just over £1m in assets at the end of 2024 and recorded a profit of £48,277 that year.
On Tuesday evening, at least four police cars were parked outside the property. The driveway was cordoned off, and bunches of flowers had been placed on a hedge at the front of the house. A woman among those who laid tributes said tearfully: "We're really sorry to lose her. She was such a gracious mother." Another local resident expressed shock that the killings had occurred in what they described as "such a nice and safe area."
Police say the investigation is fast-paced and complex, with numerous lines of inquiry being pursued alongside national and international agencies.
