Salisbury man pleads not guilty to murder of baby Jaxon, trial set for 2027

Salisbury man denies killing of five-week-old baby Jaxon

Jamie Fulford, 26, of Tournament Road in Salisbury, pleaded not guilty to murder and causing or allowing harm or death to a child at Winchester Crown Court on Thursday, bbc.co.uk reports.

Wiltshire Police said the charges relate to the death of baby Jaxon, who died eight days after being admitted to hospital with serious injuries in September 2022 — almost four years ago.

Jaxon's mother, Sophie Egerton, 22, also of Tournament Road, did not enter a plea to a charge of causing or allowing the death or harm of a child. Both defendants were granted bail.

The judge ordered Fulford to reside at his given address in Cornwall and Egerton to remain at her address in Salisbury. A previous hearing at Salisbury Magistrates' Court had heard that Fulford continued to live with his mother and Egerton following Jaxon's death.

Egerton is due before the court on 22 September to enter her pleas. A provisional trial date has been set for January 2027.
