Four teenagers arrested after GBH assault near Guildford railway station

Four teenagers were arrested after two men were assaulted by a group of six near Guildford station at 4am. Both victims were hospitalised but released without life-changing injuries.

Four teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm following an assault near Guildford railway station in the early hours of Thursday, 26 February, guildford-dragon.com reports.

Two men in their twenties were walking to the station when they were threatened and attacked by a group of six teenagers on Walnut Tree Close, shortly before 4am. Officers arrived to find both men with injuries to their head and face. Both were taken to hospital but neither sustained life-changing injuries and have since been discharged.

The four in custody are a 17-year-old boy from Guildford, an 18-year-old man from Ash, an 18-year-old man from Guildford, and a 19-year-old man from Woking. All four remained in custody at the time of the report.

Surrey Police have identified six suspects in total, described as "a group of older teenagers made up of five men and one woman believed to be between 17 and 19-years-old." One of the men was wearing a blue quarter-zip jacket and a balaclava.

Detective Inspector Sophie Bayman said: "I understand the significant police presence outside Guildford railway station may have caused concern and we are working hard to establish the full circumstances of what happened in the early hours of yesterday morning. Four people have been swiftly arrested as part of our investigation and enquiries remain ongoing."

Bayman added that the cordon on Walnut Tree Close was lifted on Thursday afternoon and thanked members of the public for their patience during the police response.

Surrey Police are now appealing for witnesses, in particular anyone present in the area at around 4am who may have seen the assault or holds dashcam footage. Taxi drivers working in Guildford at the time are specifically asked to come forward.
