Two arrested for assault and kidnapping at Georgetown County park

A man was beaten and forced into a vehicle at Luther Alston Park in Georgetown County, S.C. Two suspects, including a teenager, have been charged with kidnapping.

Two people have been arrested following an assault and kidnapping at Luther Alston Park on Old Kings Highway in Georgetown County, South Carolina, abcnews4.com reports. Georgetown County Sheriff Carter Weaver confirmed the incident was reported on Friday night around 10 p.m.

The Sheriff's Office received a report that 20-year-old Alexander Williamson was missing and had last been seen at the park. When deputies arrived, Williamson's girlfriend, Novella Hyman, told them he had been assaulted in a nearby ditch.

While deputies were still taking the report, Horry County law enforcement notified them that Williamson had been located in Conway. He had been beaten and was partially undressed.

Interviews with Williamson and several witnesses indicated that he had been assaulted and forced into a vehicle by two of Novella Hyman's family members. Williamson and an eyewitness told investigators the pair drove him to Conway, where they blindfolded him and ordered him to walk away from the vehicle.

Tamza Williams, 34, of Murrells Inlet, and a male teenager were subsequently located and arrested. Williams was booked into the Georgetown County Detention Center and charged with kidnapping and conspiracy to commit kidnapping. The teen was transported to the Department of Juvenile Justice and faces charges of kidnapping, conspiracy to commit kidnapping, and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
