Los Angeles, California — Gunfire claimed three lives inside a western San Fernando Valley home Sunday night, with law enforcement sources indicating the tragedy stemmed from domestic violence.

The shots rang out shortly after 7 p.m. at a dwelling on Owensmouth Avenue, situated across from Lanark Park. Responding officers found three bodies inside, each struck by bullets.

Information provided to NBC4 by department insiders suggests the younger victims were roughly a decade old. The department has withheld the shooter's identity and relationship to the deceased children.

NewsChopper4 footage revealed a sizable crowd gathered near the cordoned-off zone by the park's baseball diamond. Patrol vehicles and emergency response trucks lined the street.

The Robbery-Homicide unit is leading the examination. Officials assured neighbors no lingering threat exists.
