A stolen automobile tied to a firearms investigation in Bridgeport triggered an overnight dragnet in nearby Trumbull, ending with two arrests after nearly half a day of searching.

The incident kicked off Monday night when Bridgeport officers spotted a vehicle reported stolen and potentially linked to recent shootings. They chased it along Route 8 into Trumbull, where the driver and passengers jumped out and ran into the Booth Hill Road vicinity.

Trumbull officers joined forces with Bridgeport colleagues and state troopers to seal the area. Canine handlers, a drone operator, and an airborne crew were all brought in to comb the landscape.

Two fugitives were found and taken into custody not long after the hunt began, then handed to Bridgeport detectives. Yet conflicting witness statements about how many people had actually fled meant the search dragged on for roughly fourteen hours, as commanders wanted to exhaust every option.

Police now admit they cannot verify whether more suspects were involved, slipped past the cordon before it closed, or received outside help escaping. No reliable descriptions of additional runaways exist, so no public bulletins on further suspects could be issued.

Local authorities stressed that residents face no lingering peril. Normal life can resume, though vigilance is advised, and anything out of the ordinary should be reported immediately.
