Gastonia bar raided after continuing to sell drinks without permit
A joint operation by state liquor control agents and city police in Gastonia, North Carolina, resulted in a raid on a business that had reportedly stayed open and continued pouring drinks long after losing its authorization to serve alcohol.
The North Carolina ALE Division and Gastonia Police Department hit Sundowners, located on West Franklin Boulevard, on July 11. The action capped months of work that began earlier this year.
Agents first opened a file on the venue in spring 2026 following reports of physical altercations on the property. A March visit turned up sizable amounts of cocaine inside, along with breaches of ABC rules. The owners responded by handing back their permits.
Yet tips kept coming in that the place was still welcoming patrons. Through prolonged observation and covert purchases, officers confirmed the venue was pouring spirits and that narcotics were being consumed on-site despite the lack of licensing.
During the raid, the team collected over two hundred cans and bottles of beer, dozens of liquor bottles, cannabis, and a gun taken from someone with a prior felony conviction.
Three men were named in the case: Eddie Guido Cisneros, 28, from Concord; Barion Alberto Radriguez Garcia, 39, from Charlotte; and Dider Teodulfo Lopez Hernandez, 34, also from Charlotte.
