A 41-year-old Arkansas woman who held dual roles at a home care business will spend time behind bars after admitting she ripped off the state's Medicaid program through invented claims and secret payments.

Brandi Davis pleaded guilty in early May to two felony counts tied to the health-care scheme. The following month, a judge handed down a sentence requiring her to serve two years in state prison, with an additional eight-year term suspended once she finishes her incarceration.

On top of the prison term, Davis was ordered to return almost $75,000 — specifically $74,579.88 — in stolen funds.

Prosecutors outlined how Davis exploited her positions at 1st Choice Home Care, where she worked both as a direct caregiver and in office duties. She fabricated staff records listing her own child as an employee, then charged the public insurance program for assistance that was never delivered.

The fraud did not stop there. Davis also struck a corrupt arrangement with the guardian overseeing two young Medicaid enrollees. That guardian rubber-stamped time records for care sessions that never took place. In return, Davis slipped the guardian under-the-table cash.

State Attorney General Tim Griffin, whose office prosecuted the matter, said the outcome should serve as a warning to anyone thinking of exploiting government health programs or vulnerable patients.

The case reflects broader enforcement actions targeting misuse of taxpayer-funded medical assistance.
