Armed Man Arrested Near Trump Golf Course in California
A 38-year-old man was taken into custody by authorities in California after being spotted armed near a golf course owned by President Donald Trump. The incident occurred in Rancho Palos Verdes at the Trump National Golf Course ahead of a presidential fundraising dinner in Los Angeles, according to Euronews România (https://www.euronews.ro/articole/barbat-inarmat-arestat-in-apropierea-unui-teren-de-golf-al-lui-donald-trump).
Federal agents in civilian clothes observed the suspect, identified as Jeanine John Taele, walking on the property while taking photographs and recording video. Law enforcement officials stated that he appeared to be monitoring activities related to security planning for the event.
Taele was detained on accusations of illegally carrying a concealed firearm and possessing banned ammunition. Officers discovered 16 cartridges on his person. A subsequent search of his vehicle, parked at the golf course, revealed a loaded handgun and a magazine filled with hollow-point rounds designed to expand on impact and inflict severe damage.
Investigators also determined that the man was wanted by police in El Segundo in connection with a robbery committed near Rancho Palos Verdes. A raid on his residence in Downey, another Los Angeles-area city, uncovered an illegally modified AR-style rifle, a .45-caliber pistol, a bulletproof vest, high-capacity magazines, additional ammunition for handguns and rifles, and notebooks containing what authorities described as troubling statements.
California enforces some of the strictest firearm regulations in the United States, including a prohibition on magazines holding more than ten rounds.
