A tourist from Georgia was shot early Saturday morning at a Burger King in Plaza Trujillo shopping center in Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico.

A tourist sustained gunshot wounds around 2:37 a.m. on Saturday at a fast-food restaurant in Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico. The shooting occurred at a Burger King located within the Plaza Trujillo shopping center.
According to preliminary information, authorities received an alert through a call to the 9-1-1 Emergency System regarding a suspicious situation at the location. Upon arrival, officers found the victim, a resident of the state of Georgia, injured by gunfire.
In connection with the incident, one individual was taken into police custody. The arrest was made at approximately 3:15 a.m. in the Pedro Regalado Díaz residential area.
During the apprehension, law enforcement seized a Glock model 19x pistol, caliber 9mm, with serial number cfpl160. Officers also recovered three magazines and 54 rounds of 9mm ammunition. The suspect holds a valid firearms license.
Additionally, authorities confiscated a light gray 2025 Hyundai Elantra SE vehicle belonging to the detained individual.
The case has been referred to the Division of Aggressions of the Criminal Investigations Corps (CIC) in Carolina for further investigation.
