Two Men Arrested After Police Chase in Downtown Covington, Tennessee

Armed Suspect Hides in Barbershop Chair During Covington Police Chase

According to actionnews5.com, two men were arrested Thursday following a police chase through Downtown Covington, Tennessee.

The incident began when a Covington police officer attempted to stop a vehicle for a broken brake light near the intersection of Highway 51 and Church Street. As the car pulled over, the passenger exited the vehicle carrying a rifle and fled on foot down West Pleasant Street.

The suspect entered 1776 Barbershop Parlor, where officers quickly surrounded the building. Inside, they found the suspect seated in one of the barber chairs, posing as a customer waiting for a haircut.

Damian Lattimore, 24, was taken into custody and charged with evading arrest, tampering with evidence, and reckless endangerment. He is awaiting a bond hearing. The pink rifle was recovered nearby in grass close to the water treatment facility.

While officers were dealing with the situation at the barbershop, the driver fled in the vehicle. Police in Ripley tracked him down on Skyline Drive and placed him under arrest.

The driver, identified as Vertavious Barbee, 21, faces charges of evading arrest and violation of light law. His bond was set at $15,000.
