The man was placed in custody on Friday during a renewed questioning session with detectives. He now faces an accusation of first-degree homicide and is awaiting a court appearance scheduled for July 1.
The incident dates back to October 27, 2025, when emergency personnel responded to the Woodland Commons Apartments after receiving word that a female was locked in a washroom and not responding. Upon forcing entry, responders discovered the 27-year-old victim lifeless on the floor. Attempts to resuscitate her proved futile, and she was pronounced deceased at the scene.
What began as a probe into a suspicious passing was elevated to a homicide investigation once the county medical examiner determined the cause of death to be strangulation.
The spouse initially claimed to investigators that he had arrived back at the unit and found the tragic scene. He also mentioned that their union had been arranged and took place in June of the prior year.
As the inquiry progressed, detectives uncovered that the man was maintaining a concealed romantic involvement with another person. Though he maintained his innocence, authorities have presented WhatsApp exchanges and digital entry logs from the apartment's locking system as proof in their case.
Court filings indicate that no outsider accessed the couple's living space during the period when the woman died, apart from the husband himself. Investigators further noted that the man voluntarily brought up a photograph of the victim's remains that had been erased from his device.
The Bellevue Police Department continues to handle the case.
