Woman fatally shot in west Birmingham; two men detained for questioning

A woman was shot and killed on Snavely Avenue in west Birmingham on Saturday evening. Two men have been detained as police continue their investigation.

Homicide investigation opened after fatal shooting on Snavely Avenue

A woman died Saturday night after being shot multiple times in the 2400 block of Snavely Avenue in west Birmingham, wbrc.com reports.

Birmingham Police were called to the scene at 7:35 p.m. after reports of a person shot. Officers found the woman lying unresponsive in a yard with multiple apparent gunshot wounds.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue transported her to UAB Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

A preliminary investigation indicates that an altercation at the residence preceded the shooting. Two men have since been detained and brought to Birmingham Police headquarters for questioning.

Police say they are still canvassing the area and that the investigation remains ongoing.
