Denver Broncos defensive end Jonathon Cooper and his girlfriend have both been arrested on domestic violence charges in Douglas County, Colorado, krdo.com reports, citing Denver news partners at 9News.

Cooper and the woman are each being held on suspicion of two counts of domestic violence and one count of criminal mischief.

An arrest affidavit obtained by 9News states the pair were arguing at Cooper's apartment over cheating allegations. The girlfriend allegedly told police she grabbed Cooper's phone and threw it across the room, then picked it up to look through it.

According to the affidavit, Cooper grabbed her arm to retrieve his phone. When she attempted to take it back again, Cooper "braced his neck against [her] neck to prevent her from getting his phone," the document reads.

After the struggle ended, Cooper allegedly told the woman he would break her phone if she did not leave the apartment. When she refused to leave, he bit her, causing what the affidavit describes as "disabling damage."

Cooper appeared at a Douglas County courtroom at approximately 9:45 a.m. on Friday. He was subsequently released on a personal recognizance bond. A follow-up hearing is scheduled for Monday, at which Cooper is expected to enter a plea.
