Caretaker in Oklahoma Receives Additional Life Sentence

A woman behind bars in the Midwest will never go free. A judge added another life term to her punishment this week.

Holly Sheppard is 29. She had already been locked up for harming a very small child. Now she will stay inside for a second life term too.

The first problem came in 2018. A mom needed help with a newborn. She found Sheppard on the internet. The baby was hurt badly. The tiny child died. Police did not arrest anyone then.

Years went by. Sheppard kept looking for jobs watching kids online. In 2023, another parent hired her. Another baby got hurt. This one lived. Police caught Sheppard in 2024. She said yes, she did it. A judge gave her life inside.

Then police looked again at the 2018 baby. They saw the two cases were alike. They charged her with murder for the first death. She said yes to that too. This week, a judge gave her a second life term.

The first life term means at least 25 years inside. The second means at least 35 more. She will be very old if she ever gets out.

She stays at the county jail.
