Three individuals have been indicted for allegedly attacking a television news crew during a live broadcast from a well-known Chicago landmark.

William Huerta, Rafael Salinas, and Jon Twist were each charged with aggravated battery, according to prosecutors in Cook County. The incident occurred on Tuesday evening near the Adler Planetarium on the Museum Campus.

A CBS2 news team was reporting from the location when the suspects approached them. Authorities say the men became confrontational and physically assaulted the crew members. One journalist sustained injuries during the encounter.

Police responded to the scene and took the three men into custody. They are currently being held at the Cook County Jail pending bond hearings.

The motive for the attack remains under investigation. Officials have not disclosed whether the suspects targeted the crew specifically because of their profession or if the confrontation stemmed from another dispute.

This is not the first time journalists in Chicago have faced violence while working. Local media unions have repeatedly called for enhanced protections for reporters in the field.
