A 40-year-old man was fatally shot and a 13-year-old boy was wounded in a drive-by shooting among five violent incidents that Chicago police investigated Monday evening and into early Tuesday, fox32chicago.com reports.
13-year-old hit in drive-by in Portage Park
At around 8:02 p.m., the 13-year-old boy was standing outside in the 6000 block of West Montrose Avenue in the Portage Park neighbourhood when a dark-coloured SUV drove past and someone inside fired several shots. The boy was struck in the left leg. Paramedics treated him at the scene before he was transported to Lutheran General Hospital in good condition. No arrests have been made.
Three shot during argument in Humboldt Park
Earlier, at approximately 6:13 p.m., three people were shot in the 3900 block of West Division Street in Humboldt Park. Police said the victims were standing on a pavement when an argument with another individual escalated. That person drew a firearm and discharged several rounds.
A 52-year-old man sustained gunshot wounds to the groin and knee and was taken to Stroger Hospital in fair condition. A 25-year-old man was shot in the thigh and buttocks and was also transported to Stroger Hospital in fair condition. A 45-year-old woman was shot in the leg and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition. The shooter fled on foot and no arrests have been reported.
Man killed on Evergreen Avenue in Old Town
At approximately 2:10 a.m. Tuesday, a 40-year-old man was shot in the body while outside in the 400 block of West Evergreen Avenue in the Old Town neighbourhood. He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he died from his injuries. His identity has not yet been released. No arrests have been announced.
Two stabbings later Monday night
Police also responded to two separate stabbing incidents later that evening.
At around 10:21 p.m., officers were called to a home in the 1600 block of West 67th Street in West Englewood. A 31-year-old woman allegedly cut a 24-year-old man in the forehead with a sharp object during an argument. The man was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition. The woman was arrested at the scene and charges were pending as of Tuesday. Investigators said the incident appears to be domestic in nature.
At approximately 10:30 p.m., a 28-year-old man arrived at the University of Chicago Hospital with cuts to his face. He told police he had been attacked with a sharp object in the 1500 block of West 77th Street in Auburn Gresham. The victim was listed in good condition. The attacker fled and no arrests have been made.
Area detectives are investigating all five incidents. Information was provided by the Chicago Police Department.
