In a public statement, the owners insisted that no disturbance was reported at the venue on the day of the killing. They emphasized their commitment to patron safety, noting that private security guards screen every guest and that strict protocols are enforced to maintain a secure atmosphere.

The management added that they stand ready to assist investigators, offering to help clear up any questions surrounding the case and to participate in future community initiatives along Calle San Sebastián.

The deadly encounter happened in the early hours of Tuesday when Nathan Joel Castro Jr., a 40-year-old tourist from Florida, was shot during a confrontation involving at least two other individuals. Initial reports had suggested the dispute began inside Monostereo around 12:41 a.m. before spilling onto the street, where one participant allegedly opened fire.

Authorities now say the victim was set upon by between two and five assailants and sustained a fatal gunshot wound near the intersection of Calle San Sebastián and Calle Del Carmen. The young man had been on the island celebrating his birthday.

Police confirmed that two men remain in custody and are awaiting possible charges in connection with the homicide. Questions have since been raised about whether law enforcement could have done more to prevent the tragedy.
