A firearm assault in Brooklyn's Coney Island neighborhood injured five people on Saturday night. The violence erupted shortly after 10:30 p.m. near 2929 West 31st Street, as reported by ABC7 New York.

Patrol units rushed to the location following emergency calls about multiple casualties. Upon reaching the scene, officers found five individuals with bullet injuries.

All of the hurt were taken to hospitals in the surrounding area. Physicians stated that four of the wounded are likely to survive their injuries. A fifth person, however, faces a grave prognosis.

No suspects have been taken into custody at this time. Investigators are working to determine what triggered the gunfire and identify those responsible.

The case is still under active review by detectives.
