A man was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds on a roadway in Caguas early Tuesday morning, prompting a homicide investigation by Puerto Rican authorities.

Authorities in Puerto Rico are investigating a fatal shooting that left one man dead on a roadway in Caguas during the early hours of Tuesday.

Police responded to the Parcelas Viejas area in the Borinquen neighborhood after a 911 call came in around 1:18 a.m. alerting them to the incident on Highway PR-765. Upon reaching the location, officers discovered a male body lying on the pavement.

The victim had sustained several bullet wounds. His identity had not been officially released by authorities at the time of reporting.

While reporters from NotiCentro were present at the scene, a woman identifying herself as the deceased's sister arrived and became visibly distraught. She repeatedly pleaded with authorities to allow her to see her brother, crying out for access to the body.

Agent Joelys Vicente of the Criminal Investigations Corps (CIC) homicide division in Caguas has taken charge of the case. She is working alongside prosecutor Stephanie Pérez and staff from the Institute of Forensic Sciences (ICF) to investigate the killing.
