Multiple rounds were discharged near West 44th Street and Seventh Avenue in Manhattan on Thursday afternoon, prompting crowds in the theater district to scatter, according to the New York Post.

The shooting occurred just after 3:30 p.m., when a fistfight among several individuals escalated. One or more participants drew weapons and began firing, police stated.

No pedestrians or combatants suffered bullet wounds. However, one round damaged an automobile belonging to Bonnie White, who spoke with the Post. She described hearing the blasts and spotting the individual who fired them, adding that she was angry about the harm to her vehicle.

Witnesses counted approximately five shots. Recordings from the scene show throngs of tourists and commuters sprinting away from the intersection toward safety.

Responding officers located a handgun at the site and placed one suspect under arrest. Authorities continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the violence.
