Trump Assassination Plot: Eight Charged in Conspiracy to Kill Former President at White House UFC Event
Eight individuals between the ages of 19 and 32 are facing federal charges for conspiracy to commit murder and terrorism, accused of planning an attack targeting Donald Trump during a UFC event held at the White House in June.
The alleged plot involved the use of weaponized drones, firearms, explosives, and body armor. Among the intended targets, according to the indictment, were Vice President J.D. Vance, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and billionaire Elon Musk, who were expected to attend the June 14 event.
The accused, identified as Abraham Alvarez, Daniel Escrits, William Falkner, Tyson Propper, Jordan Rinker, Brian Roa, Chandler Skaggs, and Michael Thomas, allegedly began forming their plan in May. They reportedly gathered funds, firearms, ammunition, bulletproof vests, explosives, drones, medical equipment, and communication devices.
Court documents reveal the group used online platforms including Signal, SimpleX, Discord, TikTok, and Instagram to coordinate. They allegedly created a tiered system to rank participants based on their roles. Members of the "first tier" were expected to "expose themselves to risk, break the law, and potentially go into hiding."
According to the indictment, the conspirators agreed to kill any U.S. government employee working at the UFC event and had planned to travel from Nebraska, Missouri, Washington, Ohio, West Virginia, and California toward the White House. A post-attack escape method had also been identified.
Roa and Thomas allegedly underwent sniper and combat training in California in May. Escrits reportedly kept notes on his phone regarding the tier system, including personal details of each participant, while Falkner communicated with at least one person on Instagram requesting 3D-printed "drone skeletons" in exchange for payment.
The FBI learned of the potential threat against Trump and the UFC event on June 10, four days before the scheduled matches. On June 15, a document revealed that police were initially called to a home in Knox County, northeast of Columbus, Ohio, by Propper's mother, who was concerned that her son had been communicating with people online and had recently purchased weapons.
Propper's father allegedly told police that the 19-year-old was planning "hit and run" operations and had spent at least $3,000 on camping gear, food, body armor, and "lots of ammunition." Authorities stated the group embraced fringe conspiracy theories and hoped the attack would destabilize the American government.
At least five individuals were taken into custody, while another 23 were identified as possible associates of the network. FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed last month that the conspiracy had been dismantled.
Trump ultimately attended the UFC event, which proceeded without incident on his 80th birthday, alongside several other Republican politicians. Netanyahu did not attend.
