The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) says it has prevented an alleged planned attack on a combat sports event that was scheduled to take place on Sunday — President Donald Trump's birthday — near the White House.

During a multi-state operation, several individuals were taken into custody, FBI Director Kash Patel announced on the platform X. Investigators had become aware of a "potential threat" to the event on June 10, Patel wrote.

According to a Fox News report shared by Patel, the attack was allegedly planned to involve drones loaded with explosives. These were intended to strike buildings in the surrounding area, forcing an evacuation of the event and driving attendees toward a group of snipers. Following this, the plan reportedly included storming the entrance of the White House.

As reported by ORF, investigators discovered the alleged attack plans through chats on the messaging service Signal, which led to additional arrests.
