Federal authorities in the United States disrupted an alleged conspiracy to carry out a drone attack against the White House and a nearby UFC event held last weekend in Washington, D.C. The plot was timed to coincide with the 80th birthday celebrations of President Donald Trump.

The FBI, working alongside other law enforcement agencies, moved against the suspected network. By Monday, June 15, five individuals had been taken into custody. Investigators identified 23 people as part of the suspected conspiratorial network, according to reporting by Fox.

The alleged plan involved the use of drones packed with explosives to strike buildings near the UFC Freedom 250 event. Officials stated the attackers intended to trigger a mass evacuation and then direct crowds toward a waiting team of snipers.

Law enforcement first received intelligence about the threat on June 10. Subsequent investigation uncovered Signal conversations in which multiple individuals allegedly discussed the attack on the UFC event. An initial examination of one suspect's iPhone identified at least 23 Signal users who were reportedly discussing operational activity.

Some of those involved allegedly planned to travel to Fredericksburg, Virginia, on June 12 or 13 to prepare for the assault.

The UFC Freedom 250 event took place at the White House on Sunday evening as part of the festivities for President Trump's 80th birthday. The gathering drew approximately 4,300 attendees, including around 1,200 active-duty military personnel, while 14 fighters from around the world competed inside a caged ring.
