US security agencies intercepted and stopped a potential attack targeting a mixed martial arts event called UFC Freedom 250, which took place on Sunday at the White House. FBI Director Kash Patel disclosed the operation on Tuesday, according to reporting by Aktuality.sk.

President Donald Trump attended the gathering. Patel wrote on the social media platform X that swift action by the FBI, partner agencies, and the Department of Justice led to several arrests across multiple states, fully preventing the planned strikes. The bureau learned of the possible threat on Wednesday, June 10, mere days before the event. Patel noted that the detained individuals were not from the Washington, D.C. area.

The Associated Press reported that the exact nature of the threat remains unclear. Authorities were expected to release further details on Tuesday. Law enforcement detained five people from various states, including California, Missouri, and Ohio, an unnamed security official told AP. The White House event coincided with Trump's 80th birthday and formed part of celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
